The Answer Lies In The Soil!

Who’s heard of the term - it’s all in the prep? In the gardening world, it’s no different. Plants need good soil conditions if they are to give the best results, therefore prepping the soil beforehand with organic matter is an absolute must! It helps drainage and aeration on heavy soils and conserves essential moisture on light ones.

Mulching is well rotted manure or compost which is applied generously as a top layer to the soil. It is generally used to save water, suppress weeds and improve the soil around the plants. It helps retain moisture in summer, rain to penetrate the soil in winter and protects the roots of plants during the winter. With the added bonus it gives your garden a neat and tidy appearance!

Compost is a great soil improver! This valuable matter which can be lightly forked into the ground, improves structure, aeration and biodiversity. Compost can also be used as potting compost.

A handful of quality compost
Enriching your soil with quality compost is a must!

We would always advise that your soil is enriched this way during the winter and possibly again in the spring - depending on the condition of your soil, and always when new borders are being made or new planting is being done to give the best possible chance for their success and health.

So to give your plants the very best start and continued health, then taking care of the soil is an absolute priority for any garden - your plants will thank you for it!
